Things I plan to do in Philly

1. Hang out with our friends, Kittyteef and TT, who just moved to Philly this past year. Will also hang out with Kate, who will be traveling with us, and who never reads this blog. Snap! And I can call her out on it, because you know what? She never reads this blog! Snap! snap! Yeah, I said it.

2. Conduct a blind taste test of Philly cheese steaks from competing cheese steak purveyors. All will be ordered “wit.” The things we do for science.

3. Wear my tri-cornered hat proudly.

4. Have arguably the best “sandwhich ever” at Salumeria in Reading Terminal Market.

5. Get a behind the scenes tour of Bryn Mawr with an actual Mawrtyr! We shall miss the other Mawrtyr that could not make this trip.

6. Drink Yuengling with wild abandon, as it is unavailable to us mere Chicagoans.

7. Watch in amazement as Miranda cleans out the Philly pretzel cart man in the airport on the way back.

    I plan to not get bombed by the Mayor of Philadelphia.

    I may also try to find some Dock Street Ale.

    I will also be sad that KYW 1060 AM radio is no longer All-Sinatra in the evenings…

    oooh, I recommend the vegan cheesesteak from the “Basic 4 Vegetarian Snack Bar” at Reading Terminal, and some crazy beers from the Nodding Head brewpub. Don’t wear them out–I’ll be there on the 17th. :)

    We leave tomorrow morning bright and early. Actually, it’s so early, it will be dark. Dark and early tomorrow morning. :o

    Bigfella, TT speaks highly of the vegan cheese steak. And as Reading Terminal Market is our first stop, I think it’s a must. Thanks for the reco!
    And Anne, you’re absolutely right about the Tastykakes. We will most likely end up importing them, too!
