Icicles
Man, it’s cold in here.
It’s about 50 degrees outside, and now here in the apartment, because I can’t bear to close the windows yet. I am a sucker for fresh air. Or, maybe I am a sucker of fresh air? Eh, details.
It’s that time of year, much like in spring, where you almost need two changes of clothes for the day. I guess it is a small price to pay for the lovely weather.
Today presents an even more interesting wardrobe challenge as I am attending the Wilco show in Millennium Park this evening. So, make that three weather-appropriate outfits needed. Maybe there should be a game show where people have to dress just right for the weather, and they have their internal core temperature measured, and the one closest to the average normal temp wins. God, that sounds like a boring show.
OMG WTF LOL WOW BAO
I am in love.
I know, it’s a bit soon after my breakup with flip-flops, but at the very least, I am head over heels in lust. That’s because JB and I threw caution to the wind and tried a steamed bao (ok, we tried many) from Wow Bao on the first floor of Water Tower Place this afternoon. And though admittedly our blood sugar levels were low from our bike ride downtown, I can honestly say I haven’t enjoyed a fast food more in a long time.
According to their website, a bao is a “hot Asian bun,” or an old-fashioned yeast dough filled with meat and veg combinations and then steamed to soft, chewy perfection. They are supposedly a beloved fast food in China, Japan and other parts of Asia, and that Wow Bao is the first “bao shop” here in the states. And all this (supposed) authentic goodness is brought to you by Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants. Weird. But good.
So, JB went in and got us the Party Bao Six Pack. Six delectable pillows of goodness with super tasty curry chicken, veggie, edamame and kung pao chicken fillings. for just $7.49. Feeling just a bit peckish? You can have one bao for just $1.29. There’s very little you can buy in this world for $1.29. You could buy one, take a bite, hate it, throw it away, and still feel good.
The best part? I just looked online and they’re opening a location right by my work! AND they’re going to serve BREAKFAST pillows. AND Intelligentsia coffee. I am literally in heaven. And will most likely begin resembling one of these doughy pillows. Sigh. Good times. Good times.
